The Pear Shape Stone
Pear", or "Tear-drop", or "Pendeloque" (the latter usually means a long pear shape), is described as "something shaped like a drop of a thin liquid, having the globular form at the bottom, tapering to a point at the top".
The pear shape is the combination of the round brilliant and the marquise cuts. The combined effects are the brilliance of the round on one end, and the swirly flashes of fire on the other. It is ideal for pendants or dangle earrings and creates a dramatic centerpiece in a cluster setting. The pear shape cut also has the characteristic bow tie effect in the center.
